Fitzgerald House is a charitable non-profit organization founded in October 2004 with a mission to provide affordable transitional housing for homeless veterans. Each facility provides an alcohol and drug free environment to Veterans who have graduated from various Veteran’s administration programs or who, for various circumstances is rendered homeless.

Fitzgerald House is not affiliated with any Government Agency, but work closely with representatives of the Veteran’s Administration Hospital facilities. Fitzgerald House will raise funds through the issuance of chapter 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code. Our primary goal is not only to provide transitional housing but also to assist homeless veterans to return to a productive lifestyle by referring them to various municipal agencies.

These agencies provide skill assessments, resume writing, updating and referral to potential employers. Residents are encouraged to participate in meetings hosted by alcoholic anonymous and other substance abuse organizations. These meetings are held in-house, where residents can interface with one another. While in-house, they are also encouraged to adopt a buddy system, whereby they can establish a support mechanism for each other, freely discuss their fears, misunderstandings and concerns without reservation.

Goals:

To interface with local food banks to provide assistance with nutritional supplement. Reduce the stigma of homelessness within the ranks of the Veterans’ community. Provide reasonably priced housing, with amicable surroundings and foster camaraderie and friendship amongst the Veterans.

Education:

Establish a computer operation on-site training.
